Ready to feel more confident on the water? Join us Saturday, August 22 from 9:00 AM–4:00 PM for a full day of hands-on powerboat training with a U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Captain. With no more than three students per boat, you’ll spend real time at the helm.
What You’ll Learn

On-the-Water Training

- Boat parts, engine controls & basic operation
- “Pier. Steer. Gear.” fundamentals
- Safe boat handling practices
- Precision buoy approaches without contact
- Steering straight, standard stops & slow avoidance maneuvers
- Pivot & 180° turns
- Navigation aids in real time
- Docking techniques
- Man-overboard drills
- Beaching & anchoring procedures
Classroom Instruction
- Required USCG safety equipment
- Rules of the Road
- Nautical charts & navigation aids

You’ll leave with more than skills—you’ll have the judgment and awareness that make a better boat driver.
Prerequisite
Complete the North Carolina Safe Boating Course before attending unless you already hold your certificate.
