Build Your Skills. Build Your Confidence. Take The Helm. If you’ve been thinking about sharpening your boat-handling skills, building confidence at the helm, or preparing for real-world conditions on the water, now is the time to secure your spot in our comprehensive Powerboat Lessons. Led by experienced U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Captains, this hands-on course is designed for practical mastery—not just theory. You’ll learn it, practice it, and then own it. With no more than three students per boat, you’ll receive personalized instruction and meaningful time at the helm.

On-the-Water Training Includes:

  • Pre-departure checks
  • Boat partsengine controls & basic operation
  • “Pier. Steer. Gear.” fundamentals
  • Safe boat handling practices
  • Precision buoy approaches (without contact)
  • Steering straight, standard stops & slow avoidance maneuvers
  • Pivot & 180° turns
  • Navigation aids in real time
  • Docking techniques
  • Man-overboard drills
  • Beaching & anchoring procedures

Classroom Instruction Covers:

  • Required USCG safety equipment
  • Rules of the Road
  • Nautical charts & navigation aids
  • Tides, currents & environmental factors
  • Wind effects & crossing wakes
  • Float plans Weather awareness
  • Flares & fire safety
  • VHF marine radio & emergency calls
  • Responding to medical emergencies
