Description

The chances of a pirate attack on Beaufort are low, but we’re asking for your help in shoring up our defenses – even if it’s just for show!

The Friends of the Maritime Museum in Beaufort are raising funds to add a reproduction cannon to the Maritime Museum’s front patio, and you can help!

Our Annual Appeal is focused on raising the funds needed for the creation and installation of a cannon designed in the style of those that protected our coast during the 18th and 19th centuries. Specifically, we’re looking to purchase a design based on an early 18th century French iron six-pounder. This model is representative of artillery used during the Golden Age of Piracy and up until the mid-eighteenth century.

Your contribution includes an invitation to a private reception followed by a special ceremony where we unveil the new decorative, solid-cast, machine bored cannon that embodies the spirit of our coastal heritage!

Please support our Annual Appeal in raising the needed funds to purchase this new addition to the Museum’s patio by making an end-of-the-year gift to support the Maritime Museum in this special way and LET’S HAVE A BLAST at the Maritime Museum in 2024! Thank you!
